How to restore thinning edges

Watch this movie first and then we can talk about the situation that we all have. The situation might be simple when you do see it, if not, then it's going to get worst. I started to discover last year that my edges starting to thin, now just because I'm an au natural doesn't mean that I will not struggle from this. If you pay attention to your edges the thinning will come out. After watching this video I have realized that this might be the reason why my edges was thin and it was because of the tight braiding, some products coming to my hair, wear tight stuff, not eating healthy food.

Last year I wasn't eating better, I did not train at all, I was wearing a lot of gels, trying to experiment and see which gels will work well to my edges....not only the those gels that I am using weren't natural and it really damaged my edges and that is not good at all. I wish I could show you guys how my edges looked like last year. This year is even better now and that's because of the hairfinity when I finish taking all my hairfinity, I will definitely start to take care of my edges.

I have tried all kinds of gels out there noting, none of them works for my edges. The only one that works for me so far is Shea moisture JBCO strengthen, grow & restore edge treatment. I use that one as my daily moisturizer edges it gives me really shine and hold plus it also help to grow. ( Plus natural) I'm so happy that the Shea moisture company produced this line with the edge treatment too. I really love that product and I highly recommend this product to all my kink women out there. However, it's really important that you guys take care of your edges and stop using all those gel on your hair because that is not good. I have been there I was also losing all my edges, line, but thank God that I discovered really early before it was too late. In this video I was I think either begin stage or mid stage.
When I started to taking care of it , I really saw good result of it.

RAW APPLE CIDER for itching hair / Review and tutorial step by step

I divided my hair into 4 section

I use my spray bottle with Apple cider in it.

Spray it on my ends and on my roots.

Detangle the hair as well.

After you are done make sure that you use a plastic bag and let it sit for 30 mins. Rinse it out with cool water.

After the washing it out here is the result. It felt super soft, detangler , shine, and anti-itch free

I use the raw apple cider vinegar for anti-itch when my scalp is itching very much. The products reduce it and not only that it helps for the hair but the itching doesn't come for months.

That's what I love about the Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. I know that product has a smell and trust me it doesn't taste good at all, now that I gotta be real there. The smell horrible but it does the job so you can not say no to this one here, the plus is really valuable pris, it really big, you must have empty spray bottle so that you can spray on your hair.

You can find the product any supermarket, at Target , Walmart and many more

Many naturals use it as their shampoo, that's true you can use as cleanser or use it as a treatment ( that's your opinion). I use this ONLY when, my scalp is really itching bad. It's all natural there is no chemical in it.

Imma keeping it real y'all I started to use Apple cider this year and I must say that it has been bless to have this product I like it. I do recommended, because the price is super cheap and it last really long plus it does the job.

1. Vinegar Hair Rinse

Hair is on the mildly acidic side of the pH scale and has an ideal pH of 4.5 to 5.5, which is close to that of an apple cider vinegar rinse (pH 2.9).

On the other hand, many of the hair care products we use, such as soap-based shampoos, bleaches, hair colors, and permanents are strongly alkaline.

Rinsing with apple cider vinegar will help balance the pH of your hair and remove the buildup that can result from the use of these styling products and inexpensive shampoos.

Rinsing will also close the numerous cuticle scales which cover and protect the surface of each hair shaft. This imparts a smoother surface which reflects more light and as a result leaves your hair shinier, smoother and easier to manage.

Rough hair shaft with open cuticles compared to smooth hair shaft with closed cuticles.

Don’t worry about the slight vinegar smell you will notice after rinsing. It will disappear completely as your hair dries.

Make your own healthy after-shampoo hair rinse by mixing 1/3 of a cup (75 ml) of ACVinto a quart (1 liter) of water. You can then store this mixture in a plastic bottle and keep it in the shower for ready use.

If you would like to prepare a smaller batch of this vinegar hair rinse recipe to experiment with, try mixing 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of apple cider vinegar into 1 cup (250 ml) of warm filtered tap water.

Apply the vinegar rinse after shampooing and then rinse it all out, or for extra conditioning, you can leave the rinse on your hair. This natural hair care product can be used once or twice a week or more often as needed.

2. Hair Herbal Rinse

By infusing various herbs into the vinegar rinse, you can enhance different hair colors and condition hair at the same time.

Here are some recommended herbs to use with apple cider vinegar:

For dark hair:……Parsley, Rosemary,Sage
For light hair:…..Chamomile, Flannel Mullein, Marigold
For red hair:…….Henna
For oily hair:……Lavender, Thyme, Witch Hazel, Yarrow
For dry hair:…….Marigold
For brittle hair:…Horsetail

To make your own herbal hair rinse natural hair care product:

Place 2 tablespoons of the dried herb (or herb mixture) into a muslin bag or tea ball and put in a warmed tea pot.
Pour 1 pint (500 ml) of boiling water over the herbs and infuse for 2 hours.
Allow the liquid to cool then pour it into a quart (1 liter) jar.
Add 1 pint (500 ml) of apple cider vinegar and mix well.

To add extra fragrance to the herbal rinse, try adding a few drops of lavender or lemon or rose essential oils.

3. Essential Oil Vinegar Hair Rinse

If preparing a vinegar/herb infusion is not your cup of tea, then a faster way to enhance the hair conditioning effect ofapple cider vinegar is to add a small amount of certain types of essential oils.

To make a batch, just add 5 drops of the essential oil to 1 cup (250 ml) of apple cider vinegar. When you are ready to rinse your hair, take 1 tablespoon of this mixture and add it to 1 cup (250 ml) of warm water.

4. Dandruff and Itchy Scalp Relief

The acids and enzymes in ACV kill the “bottle bacillus”, a bacteria that is one of the causes for many scalp and hair conditions such as dandruff, itchy scalp, hair loss and often baldness.The bacteria clogs hair follicles allowing dry crusts to form that itch and flake.

For a simple home treatment for dandruff and itchy scalp, apply full strength ACV to the scalp, rub in, and leave on for a half hour to an hour before washing your hair.

For an extra strength natural hair care product, apple cider vinegar can be infused with herbs such as stinging nettle,southernwood, goosegrass, plantain andburdock root all of which help prevent dandruff on their own. Tea tree oil is another excellent natural anti-dandruff ingredient, which can be added.

5. Natural Hair Loss Treatment

In her book Apple Cider Vinegar- Miracle Health System, Patricia Bragg recommends trying the following natural hair loss treatment:

For bald and thinning areas apply to scalp an hour before shampooing- 2 Tbsp ACVmixed with a tiny pinch cayenne powder.
Then before going to bed, mix a royal jelly capsule with one tsp ACV, pat on bald areas and leave overnight.

The following herbs have also been used to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair growth:

Make your own vinegar mixture as per the herbal hair rinse recipe given above and apply it full strength to the scalp. Rub it in and leave it on for a half hour to an hour before washing your hair.

6. Home Remedy for Head Lice

Lice infestations are very contagious and are characterized by intense itching caused by an allergic reaction to a toxin in the saliva of the lice.

If you find that commercial lice preparations are too toxic (many contain pesticides) for you or your child’s skin, try the following herbal head louse treatment described in the Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine that uses all natural hair care products:

Carefully brush the child’s head with a mixture of 3 parts olive oil and 1 part lavender essential oil.
- First apply to a small area to test for allergic sensitivity or skin reaction.
- The hair should be saturated with the olive oil mixture and a shower cap put on for 5 hours.
- The olive oil clogs the breathing pores of the lice and they can’t hold their breath for more than 4 hours.
Follow this by an apple cider vinegar rinse, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ACV added to 1 cup (250 ml) water, to unglue the nits from the hair.
- Nits or lice eggs are fairly small and can be pearly to grey in color.
Then, using a fine-tooth comb, parents should comb the child’s hair meticulously to remove the lice eggs from the hair shaft.
And finally, wash the child’s hair with a natural shampoo.

Once completed, check the child’s hair every other day for the next 10 days, and if needed repeat the treatment.

I want to guys to know that these are those chemicals that can happened if you use it to your natural. If you have it anyway some chemical in the ingredients and if the products works for you then I suggest that you stick to it. Because it's not all are products that can works for your hair.

I used to use ORS moisturizing hair lotion , it was not all natural and it has Petrolatum in it but I works for my hair so I stick to it. That was when I lived in Sweden and the product was really good plus it was really thick and creamy which it last more then I thought it would be but the prize was a little bit to high for me.

Will I use ORS moisturizing hair lotion it again in USA? Yes , of course if the prize is not too expensive then yes.

1. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL: This is a solvent and denaturant (poisonous substance that changes another substances natural qualities). Isopropyl alcohol is found in hair color rinses, body rubs, hand lotions, after-shave lotions, fragrances and many other cosmetics. This petroleum-derived substance is also used in antifreeze and as a solvent in shellac. Natural hair reacts very badly to alcohol and this ingredient should be avoided at ALL costs. It will dry your hair out and break it off. According to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients, inhalation or ingestion of the vapor may cause headaches, flushing, dizziness, mental depression, nausea, vomiting, narcosis and even coma.

2. MINERAL OIL & PETROLATUM:The best baby oil is made from almonds. But the oil which being sold as baby oil is 100% mineral oil. Mineral oil is a derivative of crude oil (petroleum) that is used industrially as a cutting fluid and lubricating oil. This commonly used petroleum ingredient coats the skin and hair just like plastic wrap. The skin’s natural barrier is disrupted as this plastic coating inhibits its ability to breathe and absorb the Natural Moisture Factor (moisture and nutrition). The skin’s ability to release toxins and wastes is impossible through this “plastic wrap,” which can promote acne and other disorders. It further hinders normal skin respiration/transpiration by keeping oxygen out. This process slows down skin function and normal cell development causing the skin to prematurely age. Holding in large a mounts of moisture in the skin can “flood” the biology and may result in immature, unhealthy, sensitive skin that dries out easily.

Petrolatum - A petroleum-based grease that is used industrially as a grease component. Petrolatum exhibits many of the same potentially harmful properties as mineral oil.
Honestly, this stuff belongs in your engine, not on your hair. Regardless of "Well, my Grandma used vaseline on her hair and it grew ", the bottom line is this stuff is bad. It was bad for Grandma and it is bad for you. Period.

3. PEG: This is an abbreviation for polyethylene glycol that is used in making cleansers to dissolve oil and grease as well as thicken products. Because of their effectiveness, PEG’s are often used in caustic spray on oven cleaners and yet are found in many personal care products. PEG’s contribute to stripping the Natural Moisture Factor, leaving the immune system vulnerable. They are also potentially carcinogenic.

4. PROPYLENE GLYCOL (PG): As a “surfactant” or wetting agent and solvent, this ingredient is actually the active component in antifreeze. There is no difference between the PG used in industry and the PG used in personal care products. It is used in industry to break down protein and cellular structure (what the skin is made of) yet is found in most forms of make-up, hair products, lotions, after-shave, deodorants, mouthwashes and toothpaste. It is also used in food processing. Because of its ability to quickly penetrate the skin, the EPA requires workers to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles when working with this toxic substance. The Material Safety Data Sheets warn against skin contact, as PG has systemic consequences such as brain, liver and kidney abnormalities. Consumers are not protected nor is there a warning label on products such as stick deodorants, where the concentration is greater than that in most industrial applications.

5. SODIUM LAURYL SUFATE (SLS) & SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES): SLS is used in testing labs as the standard ingredient to irritate skin. Used as detergents and surfactants, these closely related compounds are found in car wash soaps, garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers. Yet both SLS and SLES are used more widely as one of the major ingredients in cosmetics, toothpaste, hair conditioner and about 90% of all shampoos and products that foam. They are used in personal-care products because they are cheap. A small amount generates a large amount of foam, and when salt is added it thicken to give the illusion of being thick and concentrated. (SOME OF THE NITROSATING AGENTS ARE: SLS, SLES, DEA, TEA, MEA). Shampooing the hair with a product contaminated with these substances can lead to its absorption into the body at levels much higher than eating nitrite-contaminated foods.

Mark Fearer in an article, Dangerous Beauty, says, “…in tests, animals that were exposed to SLS experienced eye damage, along with depression, labored breathing, diarrhea, severe skin irritation and corrosion and death.” According to the American College of Toxicology states both SLS and SLES can cause malformation in children’s eyes. Other research has indicated SLS may be damaging to the immune system, especially within the skin. Skin layers may separate and inflame due to its protein denaturing properties.

It is possibly the most dangerous of ad ingredients in personal care products. Research has shown that SLS when combined with other chemicals can be transformed into nitrosamines, a potent class of carcinogens, which causes the body to absorb nitrates at higher levels than eating nitrate contaminated food.” According to the American College of Toxicity report, ”SLS stays in the body for up to five days…” Other studies have indicated that SLS easily penetrates through the skin and enters and maintains residual levels in the heart, the liver, the lungs and the brain. This poses serious questions regarding its potential health threat through its use in shampoos, cleansers and toothpaste,”
Studies show its danger potential to be great when used in personal-care products. Toxicity - A serious problem with these chemicals is that they may be contaminated with NDELA (N-nitrosodiethanolamine), one of the nitrosamines and a potent carcinogen, according to a 1978 FDA report.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)- SLES is the alcohol form (ethoxylated) of SLS. It is slightly less irritating than SLS, but may be more drying. Both SLS and SLES can enter the blood stream. They may cause potentially carcinogenic formations of nitrates and dioxins to form in shampoos and cleansers by reacting with other product ingredients. Large amounts of nitrates may enter the blood system from just one shampooing. Contains ether.

6. CHLORINE: According to Doris J. Rapp, M.D., author of Is This your Child’s World? exposure to chlorine in tap water, Showers, pool, laundry products, cleaning agents, food processing, sewage systems and many others, can effect health by contributing to asthma, hay fever, anemia, bronchitis, circulatory collapse, confusion, delirium diabetes, dizziness, irritation of the eye, mouth, nose throat, lung, skin and stomach, heart disease, high blood pressure and nausea. It is also a possible cause of cancer. Even though you will not see Chlorine on personal care product labels, it is important for you to be aware of the need to protect your skin when bathing and washing your hair.

7. DEA (diethanolamine) MEA (momoethnanolamine) TEA (triethanolamine): DEA and MEA are usual listed on the ingredients label in conjunction with the compound being neutralized. Thus look for names like Cocamide DEA or MES, Lauramide DEA, etc. These are hormone disrupting chemicals and are known to form cancer causing nitrates and nitrosamines. . These are commonly found in most personal care products that foam, including bubble baths, body washes, shampoos, soaps and facial cleansers. On the show, CBS This Morning, Roberta Baskin revealed that a recent government report shows DEA and MEA are readily absorbed in the skin. Dr. Samuel Epstein, Professor of Environmental Health at the University of Illinois said “repeated skin applications of DEA-based detergents resulted in a major increase in the incidence of two cancers - liver and kidney cancers.” John Bailey, who oversees the cosmetic division for the FDA said the new study is especial important since “the risk equation changes significantly for children.”

8. FD & C Color PIGMENTS: Many color pigments cause skin sensitivity and irritation. Absorption of certain colors can cause depletion of oxygen in the body and even death according to A Consumer’s dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients. Debra Lynn Dadd says in Home Safe Home: “Colors that can be used in foods, drug, and cosmetics are made from coal tar. There is a great deal of controversy about their use, because animal studies have shown almost all of them to be carcinogenic.”

9. FRAGRANCE: Fragrance is present in most deodorants shampoos, sunscreens, skin care, body care and baby products. Many of the compounds in fragrance are carcinogenic or otherwise toxic. “Fragrance on a label can indicate the presence of up to 4,000 separate ingredients. Most or all of them are synthetic. Symptoms reported to the FDA have included headaches, dizziness, rashes, skin discoloration, violent coughing and vomiting, and allergic skin irritation. Clinical observation by medical doctors have shown that exposure to fragrances can affect the central nervous system, causing depression, hyperactivity, irritability, inability to cope, and other behavioral changes,” (Home Safe Home).
For better health try purchasing unscented products and for fragrance, adding a natural essential oil.

10. IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA and DMDM HYDANTOIN: These are just two of the many preservatives that release formaldehyde (formaldehyde-donors). According to the Mayo clinic, formaldehyde can irritate the respiratory system, cause skin reactions and trigger heart palpitations. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause joint pain, allergies, depression, headaches, chest pains, ear infections, Chronic fatigue, dizziness and loss of sleep. It can also aggravate coughs and colds and trigger asthma. Serious side effects include weakening of the immune system and cancer. Nearly all brands of skin, body and hair care, antiperspirants and nail polish found in stores contain formaldehyde-releasing ingredients.

Chemical to avoid on your natural hair

It's really important that we all understand which ingredients we have to avoid to our natural hair , because that can always cost a lot of conditions the reason why the hair is not answering or it's not growing at all. From my experience I didn't care about it at all until I went to natural. I wanted to know which chemical I must stay away from which can be very hard because some of the products in grocery are really CHEAP comparing with all natural products. Every since that I finally learned which chemical I must avoid to putting in my natural hair , and every since that my hair has been more healthier, and thicker then ever.

There are certain chemicals natural black hair does "not like" because they dry hair out or coat hair in a film that makes moisturizing difficult. Some chemicals, e.g. Parables aren't bad for hair as such but have been linked to cancer. Whenever I buy hair products I go for those that are 100% made from natural materials.

These are the chemical you MUST avoid putting to your hair:

Gluten
PABA or DEA (paraaminobenzoic acid and Diethanolamine)
Parabens
Paraffin
Petrolatum
Phthalates
Propylene Glycol
Silicone
Sulfates
"Fragrances" normally refers to synthetic chemicals; essential oils and fruit extracts are best for adding a good smell to hair products

Theses are very important!!!! I recommend this to ALLL HAIR TYPES!!!! Either if your hair is relax or natural. The best way to stay away from it is to find a product brand that is ALL natural. Like Shea Moisture, Alikay Naturals, and many more..... Shea moisture are really good in my opinion because they are 100 % natural no chemical.

I find one that was close to my place, the hair salon called Mahogany Revolution http://mahoganyrevolution.com/. This hair salon is the only one that I can trust because they know how to take care of nappy or aka kinky hair because most of the hair salons in Los Angeles CA don't know who to do it honestly.... Anyways, since it was my first at the hair salon I got the washing and conditioner for FREE!!!! YAAYY but next time it will cost me 30 dollars. The trim cost 30 dollars, which I think it is a good price for natural hair, the people there were really nice and the person who was doing my hair explains everything to me step by step. The hairdresser started to conditioner, wash it out, started to blow dry and then with the cutting. I have never ever had a blowout before, so this is my first time. It was pretty much cool to see how it looks like, my cutting wasn't that much. I really got my trim I will definitely come back again. I Keepin'itReal
